OKI International School Kandana was established on 9th January 2002 with only
12 students and 4 teachers. After 9 years of operations, the student strength
has now increased to 700 with a teaching staff of 43. It signifies almost a
sixty times increase. OKI International School adopts a policy to add one grade
to the top end of the study stream annually so that after few years from now the
school will be a fully fledged school covering the span pre-grade to Advanced
Level.
Currently Mr.Lalith Wijesiri is the Principal of the branch assisted by a Head
Mistress which position is presently held by Ms.Ragunath |

Academic Stream |
Currently the school has classes up to Grade 9. At grade 8, option is given to
choose between “Cambridge University and National Syllabus. In both pathways
National Curriculum and the Cambridge curriculum students are given the option
to follow Science or Commerce streams. This branch grants scholarships for Grade
5 and 7 students through a test conducted across all branches. English is the
medium of studies, but the Sinhalese, Tamil, and French languages are taught
from Primary school. Teachers are graduates or trained Teachers with teaching
experience. This branch is equipped with a Laboratory and a well organized
Library.

Co-Curricular |
Conforming to the co-curricular activities at the main school, Kandana branch
follow suit by having Science Society, Commerce Society, Speech & Drama society
contributing for a Language Day and Concert. This year the Language Day was held
at Kularathne Hall at Ananda College.
On 2nd of April 2011 and the Annual Concert was held on 07th of July 2011 at
B.M.I.C.H . All religious namely Roman Catholics, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus
children conduct religious ceremonies two days a week and holds a religious day
on a day significant to their religious doctrine.

Sports |
The students in this branch engage in the sporting activities, including
Badminton, Swimming, Karate, Cricket, Basket Ball & Net Ball. Eminent coaches
guide the children and many children have excelled in their respective sporting
activities. Two Athletes secured 2nd & 3rd places at the circuit meet this year.
Nathen Kushantha brought glory to our motherland, school/branch with his
performance in India Coimbetore on Karate. Nathan emerged as Champion Karateka
in his age group winning all Kata and Kumite in the Asian Open Karate
Championship. He is one of the youngest black belt holders in Sri Lanka. Rishmi
Kannangara, Leader of the Eastern Band, Deputy Head Prefect excelled in
athletics particularly the event High Jump at the Inter House Sports Meet 2011
and Lanka Lions Athletic Meet 2011. She is a member of the OKI netball team who
became winners at circuit, zonal, and Inter International schools.
