TEACHER TRAINING |
|
OKI teacher training Centre has been involved in producing young potential
teachers to the Education sphere. For this purpose two streams of teacher
training courses are conducted with 6 months duration, one for the Kindergarten
Teachers, and for Primary teachers the other. The course contents were revised
to match with the current research results on child psychology and modern
teaching, learning methods. There are two batches of teacher trainees currently
following classes. Plans are underway to link up our training courses to provide
a pathway for diploma holders to end up obtaining a Bachelors Degree on
Education.

Aquinas University College – Engineering Faculty |
With the collaboration of OKI International School of IT, on 8th January 2008, Aquinas University College Engineering Faculty was established, headed by Mr Nimal Saparamadu the Chairman of OKI International School network. Mr Saparamadu a Telecommunication Engineer by profession, who has counted over 25 years of service in the telecommunication industry, is an eminent trainer at the SLT training centre. One of the youngest members of the Aquinas family the Faculty of Engineering caters to the following Examination bodies.
• City and Guilds Institute of London
• British Engineering Council
• Aquinas Engineering Faculty for internal Examinations
Electrical & Electronics, Telecommunication, Quantity Surveying, Civil are the streams dealt within spectrum of Engineering at Aquinas Engineering Faculty. The well equipped Laboratory and Library with prescribed books and additional reading is a strength to induce students for more learning. A spacious room with modern drawing apparatus could accommodate 10 students at any time in partitioned cubicles.
With 23 students enrolled for the year 2008, it is remarkable to place on record that in a matter of two years, by 2010 the number soared to 511. This shows a twenty-five times increase signifying the desperation of those vying to become engineers had been in the lurch until a well recognized, well renowned Engineering College has come into being. This void has been perfectly identified and today Aquinas University College is not second to many prestigious Engineering Colleges in South Asia. Professor Michael Dave the Head of City and Guilds International Development, during his visit on 30th June 2010 expressed his astonishment not only on the unprecedented growth, but also commensurate with the growth the excellent results attained by the students, within such a short span
During first half of this year OKI management took a bold step to relocate the Faculty to a building which was known as the hub of Radio Technology forty years ago, founded by genius late Rev. Fr. Ignatius Perera. On 14.6.2011 the Management of OKI involved at Aquinas together with Rector Rev. Fr Placidus De Silva, and officials had a soft opening.
Meanwhile on 9th July 2011, the new batch of students enrolled commenced attending classes at the new location after a brief induction ceremony, which was graced by Rev Fr.Dinesh Prishantha Mr Kusum Fernando, Mr Kaviratne coordinator, Mr Senani Ranasinghe Director OKI and Mr Peter Nanayakkara Chief Operating Officer OKI.

LCCI PROGRAM |
OKI spear headed for the introduction and implementation of The London Chamber
of Commerce and Industry examination popularly known as LCCI. LCCI International
Qualifications are among the best recognised and most highly regarded
qualifications in the world.
The qualifications are available as single subjects or diplomas and group
certificates and are available at different levels across the following subject
areas: English Language range includes English for Business (EFB), English
Language Skills Assessment (ELSA), JETSET and Spoken English for Industry and
Commerce (SEFIC) are aligned to the Common European Framework (CEF) and used
worldwide by employers and universities as evidence of language proficiency.
This year the awards day was held in February where 131 students were recipients
of awards and certificates, 27 of them obtained Distinctions in their relevant
grades. The next batch is now in progress and the examination is scheduled for
October 2011.
